Childcare costs
If you are working and paying someone to look after your children sometimes we can take these expenses into account when assessing your housing benefit.
To qualify for this you must be:
A single parent who works 16 hours a week or more; or
Part of a couple where you both work 16 hours a week or more; or
Part of a couple where one of you works 16 hours a week or more and the other is sick and has been unable to work for the past 28 weeks.
The child must be under the age of 15 (16 if disabled) and normally cared for by a registered childminder, nursery or after school club.
We will need to see proof of these expenses.
