Savings
Your savings must be less than £16,000 to claim Housing or Council Tax Benefit. If you have a partner the joint total of your savings must not be above £16,000. If you receive the Guaranteed Pension Credit there is no limit on your savings.
The first £6,000 is ignored as income.
For every £250, or part of £250, you have over the minimum amount we assume £1 weekly icome. If you are aged 60+ then this is an assumed income of £1 for every £500, or part of £500, over the first £6,000 savings.

Property you own, other than the one you live in.
We will need to original documents for any of the above that you may have.
For example: bank statements, building society statement or pass book, Post Office savings book, share certificates, dividend statements for stacks shares and bonds.
Identity and National Insurance number proof
Proof of identity can be any of the documents listed below.
Proof of income
We need to see proof of all your and your partner's income and savings. The proofs must be originals, not photocopies.
