Other ways to dispose of bulky waste

Do you have a large bulky items such as a bed, sofa or an electrical appliance, for example a fridge, which is still in a good or usable condition? You may want to consider passing it on for re-use or recycling rather than it going to landfill.

You can dispose of bulky items for free at the Household Waste Recycling Centre based in First Avenue, Millbrook.

Donate to a charity

  • If the item is in good condition
  • If the item has been stored indoors or undercover
  • If an electrical appliance, it is fully working
  • If an upholstered item, it has a red or blue fire label attached

If the item complies with the above points, then the following charities will accept the donation. A small charge may be made for collection, but some are free.

SCRATCH helps families in need. They are based on Mount Pleasant Industrial Estate and always require good furniture and electrical appliances.
