Planning Obligations SPG

The City Council has produced guidance on Planning Obligations. Sometimes when granting planning permission the Council will ask for money to spend on things such as the roads, open spaces or affordable housing. The aim of the guidance is to provide clarity and certainty over what money will be asked for, otherwise known as a 'section 106' contribution.

The City Council updated the SPG on Planning Obligations in November 2006 to include the latest prices, costs and also to include more detail on affordable housing. The aim of the guidance is to provide clarity and certainty over the powers prescribed by Section 106 of the Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act (1990). The guidance is intended to provide specific details on which financial contributions the City Council will seek when implementing development, drawing from Policy IMP 1 of the Revised Deposit Local Plan Review (2003).
