Public Access online planning applications

PublicAccess Planning Application Information System

Public Access will not be available on the 30th of June 2009 due to a major software upgrade. There may also be unresolved residual issues the following day as the system settles in. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

What is PublicAccess?

PublicAccess for planning is an on-line Internet service that allows you to view some details of planning applications being considered by the Council. You can monitor the progress of an application, submit comments about the application, search a constantly updated list of applications received and decided each week, view details of many historic applications and view property details by reference to a map. Please make sure you are using the latest version of Internet Explorer. You may experience problems using other browser applications such as Opera, Firefox (Mozilla) etc and all popup blockers should be off. The following document should help you if you want to know how to use this service PublicAccess user guide (PDF)

Not all applications can be commented on, only those that are still within the consultation period. If they are, a button will be visible asking for your comments. Also the application will indicate that comments can be made.

You can now view plans and other relevant documentation (associated documents) for all planning applications received from December 2007 (where available) and all Decision Notices issued from that date. Associated documents will normally be available within 5 working days of validation of the planning application, and Decision Notices within 2 working days of being issued subject to resources and workload. You will not be able print the Decision Notices as they are legal documents and carry a fee of £4.46.

Copies of Decision Notices are available from the above address.

Some applications may be subject to a Planning and Rights of Way Panel decision

Information

  • PublicAccess may not be available occasionally due to essential maintenance.

  • PublicAccess is not intended to replace the Council's statutory register of planning applications. Current planning applications and documents are available for viewing on request at Gateway, Southampton City Council, Civic Centre, Southampton (Tel 023 8083 2166) during normal office hours. Historic records require 2 working days notice.

  • The online planning history contained within the site at present is incomplete and must not be used as a substitute for carrying out a formal 'Land Charges Search'. No responsibility will be taken for any errors or omissions in the planning history information obtained from PublicAccess. Similarly the information contained within PublicAccess does not constitute in any way a formal notification of a planning decision, and as such any actions taken as a result of information displayed on the site are undertaken entirely at the viewer's own risk.

  • Whilst all plans and drawings on this web site are scans of scaled originals, the images will not appear at any particular scale on your computer screen. Figured dimensions, where they appear, are the only relative indications of measurements on these images. Most but not all PDF scaled plans carry a tool for you to use to measure unmarked dimensions.

  • Some downloadable documents are in Adobe Acrobat Reader® format. To read these documents you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your PC.

  • If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader® you will need to go to the Adobe web site. Please click the logo

  • Please note the following information and documents are of a technical nature and may be difficult to understand for some people. The planning office telephone line is available if you do require extra help. Please call 023 8083 3512 or email: planning@southampton.gov.uk

  • Also, some files are likely to be large because of their content. The files may take a few minutes to download and it is recommended that you have a broadband Internet connection (modem). Please check with your provider if you are unsure about the speed of your connection.

  • To submit a planning application for consideration, please follow the link to the Planning Portal, an external government facility where you will be able to complete an application, submit plans and drawings and pay online.
