Variation of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Fees

Following a periodic review of licensing fees, proposals for variation of fees, including those for hackney carriage and private hire licences, have been considered by the Service Director: Transactions and Universal Services. In respect of fees for hackney carriages, private hire vehicles and private hire operators, those proposals must be advertised and any objections considered before they can come into force

Notice of the proposals appeared on page 17 of the Hampshire Independent 4 November 2016 edition.

Any objections in respect of fees for hackney carriages, private hire vehicles and private hire operators had to be received by the Licensing Team in writing by 2 December 2016, (to licensing.policy@southampton.gov.uk) and were then considered by the Service Director: Transactions and Universal Services. On consideration of the objection made, the Service Director: Transactions and Universal Services determined that the proposed revised fees for hackney carriages, private hire vehicles and private hire operators should be implemented with immediate effect.

Southampton City Council, as Licensing Authority, has a duty to ensure that the fees charges fairly reflect the costs of providing the regulatory regime, and to review fees periodically to ensure, so far as possible, that this is achieved.
