Many pubs, restaurants, wine bars and cafés wish to have seating and tables outside their premises for the use of their customers. We are keen to promote the establishment of 'street cafes' at suitable sites in the city. Where the pavement concerned is part of the public highway permission will need to be obtained. This is to ensure that adequate space is available for the safe and free movement of all highway users. If an area is deemed to be suitable a consultation will be carried out by our Legal Services team, this is to ensure that appropriate consideration is given to local residents and business owners.
Who can apply for this permission: All
• Evidence of £5 million Public Liability Insurance
• A site plan, to scale showing the proposed area with dimensions in metres and the position of the tables and chairs
• Details of all of the furniture and other equipment you propose to place on the pavement, including drawings or copies of catalogue entries.
• If you wish to serve alcohol at your tables you will also require a Premises Licence
Fees will be applicable and conditions attached
• New application £346.00 for one year
• Renewal application £136.00 for one year
