Tables and chairs licence

Licence summary

Many pubs, restaurants, wine bars and cafés wish to have seating and tables outside their premises for the use of their customers. We are keen to promote the establishment of 'street cafes' at suitable sites in the city. Where the pavement concerned is part of the public highway a licence will need to be obtained. This is to ensure that adequate space is available for the safe and free movement of all highway users. If an area is deemed to be suitable a consultation will be carried out by our Legal Services team, this is to ensure that appropriate consideration is given to local residents and business owners.
