Fund raising and charitable collections - licensing

Certain aspects of fund raising for worthy causes are regulated by law and details of arrangements for:

  • street collections (charitable collections)
  • house to house collections (charitable collections)
  • lotteries

are available via the links on this page. If applications for permission need to be made, the forms have been made available on the individual subject pages.

Additional information on bingo in community centres and members' clubs and race nights is available from the Gambling Commission.

In general terms, none of these opportunities to raise funds for worthy causes are available to any commercial undertaking.

Open Air Fund-Raising Events

If you want to arrange an open air fund raising event in Southampton please see the Events Team's "Holding your event in the city" page for practical advice and assistance in doing so.
