How to make a payment

• Direct Debit :-
The safest and most convenient way for you to pay is by Direct Debit. Payments are paid for you automatically by your bank or building society. With Direct Debit, you are guaranteed an immediate refund in the unlikely event of a mistake being made under the Direct Debit guarantee. You can either download and print the Direct Debit form or telephone your bank details through to our office on 023 8083 3002.

• Card payments - online, by telephone or in person :-
You can pay by Switch or Delta, Visa or MasterCard. You can pay online via this website - simply click on this link - Pay your business rates online - or the link above. Or call our 24 hour payment line on 023 8083 3001. Our 24 hour payment line accepts payments up to the value of £2000.

Please note that if you choose to pay by credit card a surcharge of 2.5% will be added to the transaction.

• Standing Order :-
Take the following details along with your business rate account number to your bank and they will set up the payment for you. This is an arrangement between you and your bank. Please remember to quote your business rate account number when setting up the payment.

• By Post :-
Please send your cheque or postal order to Southampton City Council, Civic Centre, Southampton, SO14 7LD. Please make cheques payable to Southampton City Council and make sure you put your account number on the back so we can allocate your payment correctly.


• Post Office :-
You can pay in your local post office using a Trans cash slip. When filling in the details please include your business rate account number, payment amount, and the National Girobank account number. 3087344


• Local Housing Office :-
You can make payments at any local housing office (LHO) all you need is your business rate account number and the amount you are to pay. Opening hours differ; please check at your local office.
