Details of service:
Some services are available on the school site while others are not, however, all schools should be building up information on what is available in their local area. Not all schools will offer everything, but our aim in Southampton is that by 2010, all schools will have access to a full range of extended services.
An extended school offers access to a range of services:
• Childcare for children up to the age of 14 (16 if the child is disabled), 8.00 am - 6.00 pm throughout the year and where there is demand.
• A varied menu of activities after school and in school holidays
• Parenting support and family learning
• Community use and adult and community learning
• Swift and easy access to specialist services
A school offers “the full core offer of extended services” when it offers all of the above.
