Education for vulnerable children

The team for vulnerable children and young people sits within Inclusion Support Services and brings together a number of officers who lead within their specialist areas. They work across agencies to raise the profile of these vulnerable groups of young people and to promote improved educational outcomes.

The collection and analysis of data, together with an awareness of issues impacting on these vulnerable groups, guides the team’s strategic planning. This, in turn, directs the support and advice provided to children, schools, families and carers. The principle focus is to raise educational achievement through improved attendance, reduced exclusions and the raising of aspirations.

The team provides training, develops projects and initiatives to promote learning and has created a bank of resources and information for the use of schools and other agencies.
