Care and support for those with an identified need

Family resource service

We help families referred by Children and Families social workers. We will work with families:

• when there is a child protection plan for the children.

• needing help keeping their children safe.

• needing help on reducing risk to children.

• in child protection or court proceedings where contributions to complex assessments are needed.

• with children who have been in care for more than six months where reunification with their family is planned within the next three months.

Details of service

We have three family centres that provide a relaxed and welcoming environment for meetings and family work. Our teams offer advice and support on parenting and family relationships. We help families protect their children and keep them safe. We also carry out assessments of parents’ ability to care for and protect their children.
Community and support workers work with families in their own home and the local community and can offer support in the evenings and at the weekends if necessary.
