Education welfare service
We have a duty to ensure all school age children are receiving an education. We have the job of working with schools, families and pupils to make sure they do.
Educational psychology
We work with school staff, parents and other professionals. We promote the learning and development of children up to the age of 19.
Emotional Literacy
Our service is available through the Schools Library Service. We provide lists of books grouped by emotions and can help you get hold of the book you would like. You can use these books to support the learning of primary aged pupils.
Educational support for looked after children
Southampton City Council is the corporate parent for over 300 young people. This page gives information about the support offered to looked after children in education.
Emotional well-being development
We offer a service to help children recognise and manage their feelings.
Special educational needs
Our role is to make sure that children and young people with SEN receive the right support for their learning. We aim to make the best use of our resources and make sure that we follow government legislation.
Suspension or Exclusion from School
Exclusion means not permitting a child to attend school. The Education Act 2002 and other regulations tell us the rules to follow. This page gives you more information about exclusion and what help is available.
Young carers
Many children and young people care for someone else. This page has more about the support and youth groups set up for them.
