Local Restriction Support Grants and Top Up Grants for the period 26 December 2020 – 15 February 2021

On Tuesday 5 January 2021, we entered a National Lockdown.

The Government has announced additional funding by the way of new lockdown grants to support businesses and protect jobs.

Eligibility for additional grant funding if you fulfil all the criteria below

  • You occupy a property which has been listed on the local non domestic rating list since the 25th December 2020.
  • You are mandated to close because of national restrictions that resulted in a first full day of closure on 26th December 2020. These include non-essential retail, leisure, personal care, sports facilities and hospitality businesses.
  • Your business has been unable to provide its usual in-person customer service from its premises.

Exclusions

  • Businesses that are able to continue to trade because they do not depend on providing direct in-person services from premises and can operate their services effectively remotely (e.g. accountants, solicitors, estate agents) are not eligible
  • Businesses in areas outside the scope of the restrictions, as defined by Government, are also excluded
  • Businesses that have chosen to close, but have not been required to close as part of local the lockdown
  • Businesses that are not separately assessed on the business rates register. (You may be eligible for support under the Additional Restrictions Grant fund).
  • Businesses which were closed and not providing direct in-person services from premises before 25th December 2020
  • Businesses that have reached the state aid limit

How much will you receive

A Local Restrictions Support Grants (Closed) Addendum: Tier 4 payment for the period 26 December 2020 – 04 January 2021 (10 days)

  • £476.43 for businesses with a rateable value of exactly £15,000 or under
  • £714.29 for businesses with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000
  • £1,071.43 for businesses with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 and above. 

A Local Restrictions Support Grants (Closed) Addendum: national lockdown payment for the period 05 January 2021 – 15 February 2021 (6 weeks)

  • £2001.00 for businesses with a rateable value of exactly £15,000 or under
  • £3000.00 for businesses with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000
  • £4,500.00 for businesses with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 and above.

A one off top up payment of

The one-off top-ups will be granted to closed businesses as follows

  • £4,000 for businesses with a rateable value exactly £15,000 or under
  • £6,000 for businesses with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000
  • £9,000 for businesses with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 and above.

Total amount for the period 26 December 2020 – 15 February 2021

  • £6,477.43 for businesses with a rateable value exactly £15,000 or under
  • £9,714.29 for businesses with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000
  • £14,571.43 for businesses with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 and above.

Please note we have not yet received official guidance and these figures are subject to change.

What do you need to do?

If you have received a local restrictions grant payment for the period 5 November 2020 – 2 December 2020 we will have your details and will issue this lumpsum payment without further requirements for you complete an application form or contact us.

Payments will be issued into the same bank accounts where the grant for the period 05.11.20 to 02.12.20 was issued.

We are aiming to distribute all payments in the week commencing the 18th January 2021. 

By accepting this payment, you are confirming that you are eligible for the scheme and liable for prosecution if you are not eligible. Your information will be shared with BEIS for research and evaluation purposes and you may be contacted.

Eligibility checklist

  • My business is mandated to close and I have closed and remained closed.
  • I still intend to reopen at the end of the national lockdown. 
  • I have not vacated the property form which I received a November grant.
  • My business has not become insolvent, or entered administration / has an active proposal to strike off. 
  • I have not reached the state aid limit.
