The Freedom of Information Act 2000 is intended to promote a culture of openness and accountability amongst public sector bodies by providing people with rights of access to the information held by them. Southampton City Council should endeavour to provide as much information as possible about the request however certain information is exempt under Freedom of Information rule and therefore will not be divulged. Under this Act Southampton City Council is obliged to provide information it holds to any person or body on request within 20 working days.
