'Your City, Your Say' survey 2010

The 'Your City, Your Say' questionnaire asked residents to share their views about living in Southampton, and their opinions about Southampton City Council. In particular, the survey considered five key areas - ‘Your Community’, ‘Your Council’, ‘City Priorities’, ‘Your Safety’ and ‘Your Health’

The aim of the survey was to collect information from residents to help the Council identify whether it is meeting local needs and expectations. Learning how often people use local services, levels of satisfaction with these services, and where people feel improvements should be made will enable the Council to:

• make better decisions, based on the needs of local people
• identify key priorities for improvement with the services we provide
• develop new services
• identify places, or groups of people, in need of more support
• attract funding for new schemes and initiatives that benefit the local community

The survey was sent to a randomly selected sample of 3,600 residents, and 1,171 responses were received – giving an overall response rate of 33%.

The report available below gives an in-depth overview of the survey findings, including a policy summary and comparisons with previous large scale resident surveys including the 2008 Place Survey and preceding Best Value General Surveys.
