Southampton City Council believe all people should have the opportunity to voice their opinions on issues that affect them. The consultation web pages are being developed to bring together consultation work currently in progress as well as information about past projects.
We also believe that it is important that we represent Southampton in relation to key national consultations and this page also includes responses that we have national consultations.
Current consultation - including surveys and market research
Previous consultations - results are added when available
Responses to national consultations - responses from Southampton City Council and partners to national consultations
Other ways to get involved - information on other areas which welcome your feedback
Supplementary planning documents and guidance - information on planning guidance, documents and updates
All of our consultations are guided by the standards set out in the consultation code of practice document available below.
How do we use the results?
The results of consultations are fed back to the public, service managers and decision makers within the council or within our partner organisations.
We use the results to help us:
understand what you think about our services and if there is anything we could do anything differently
determine the priorities and concerns of residents on a range of issues, to help us design policy or focus resources
The results you provide form part of the information on which decisions are made. However, we also have to consider resource constraints and competing views.
Will my details be confidential?
The Stonewall Guidance What's it got to do with you? (available below) provides a useful explanation of why we need to collect your personal information. Essentially, collecting details about your age, gender, ethnicity, lifestyle and where you live allows us to consider if some parts of the population have particular needs, and to respond to those more effectively.
You, personally, will not be identified in any of the analysis or reports produced. We will simply combine your details with those of everyone else who has responded, and then report e.g. what younger or older people, or people with a disability, or people who live in a certain area think.
