Council values

The five values below define the culture of the organisation and set out the way that the council operates. They are supported by six priorities which underpin all of the Council’s work.

In all that we do we will:

Maintain a customer focus

We will aim to understand and exceed the expectations of external and internal customers.

Invest in employees

We will aim for diverse teams of motivated people, operating in a challenging environment based on empowerment, innovation and personal development.

Work with integrity, openness and honesty

Our standards of conduct are based on trust, respect, fairness, honesty, sincerity and equality. We will listen to and consider all points of view and provide honest and constructive feedback.

Deliver outcomes and strive for continuous improvement

We will manage effectively to ensure business performance and high standards of service. We will monitor and evaluate our activities continuously and strive for improvements in all that we do. We will promote effective working partnerships, internally and externally.

Value diversity

We value the diversity of our city and our workforce. We will ensure that our services and policies reflect the appropriate needs and issues. We will challenge discrimination.
