Having your say

Deputations
Deputations, which may include the presentation of a petition, are a way for members of the public to raise issues they are concerned about in person, at Council or Cabinet meetings.

If you wish to make a deputation please write to the Democratic Services Manager explaining the subject of the deputation. Your letter or e-mail must be received at least SEVEN clear days before the meeting to which the deputation is to be made.

Petitions
Petitions are ways for members of the public to raise at a Council meeting, through a Councillor, issues they are concerned about that relate to matters of local government in Southampton, or which affect the City or its inhabitants. The Councillor will present the petition to the Council.

Questions
Questions may be asked at Council by members of the public who either live or work in the City.

If you wish to ask a question at Council please write to the Democratic Services Manager, setting out the question. Your letter or e-mail must be received at least SEVEN clear days before the Council meeting at which the question is to be asked. (see above contact details).

Representations

At the discretion of the Chair of the meeting, members of the public may address the Council, Cabinet, Committee or Panel, including the presentation of a petition, about any report on the agenda for that meeting in which they have a relevant interest.
