Council Elections 2012

The City Council is made up of 48 Councillors representing 16 wards, with three Councillors per ward. Elections are held in the first three years of a four-year cycle, usually on the first Thursday in May, with one-third of the Council (16 seats) up for election each year. The last election for Southampton City Council members was held on Thursday 3 May 2012.

Due to the resignation of Councillors in the Bitterne Park and Peartree Wards there were two vacancies as well as the 16 seats being contested.
