Student Registration

Why should I register to vote?
Whether you live on campus or in town, in halls or in rented accommodation, you are affected by the same issues as everyone else and entitled to register to vote.

Where should I register?
If you are a student living away from home you can register to vote at your home address and where you live at university or college.

Students have the right to vote in respect of both addresses at the time of a local election but must choose only one address to vote in respect of when Parliamentary and European Parliamentary elections are held.

How can I vote?
If you are unable to attend at your allocated polling station to vote in person you can choose to vote by post or by proxy (someone voting on your behalf).

Please note that at the time of an election there will be deadlines for receipt of applications to register and to vote by post or by proxy.
