Southampton City Council Plan 2011-14

The purpose of this Plan is to set out the most important things we want to achieve by 2014 and explain how we will develop our organisation, our planning and focus to achieve our key goals.

We want to attract more jobs for local people, more investment in the city and provide high quality, low cost services that meet customer needs.

We will work collaboratively with all our key partners within the private, public and voluntary sectors – and our communities and residents – across the city and beyond to deliver the vision set out within the Plan.

Big Society Agenda

The Big Society agenda has a strong influence on the council's future plans. The Big Society Agenda was launched by David Cameron on 19th July 2010.

The Big Society is about helping people come together to improve their own lives. It’s about putting more power in the people’s hands – a massive transfer of power from Whitehall to local communities. To find out more, open the 'Big Society: Key Policy Initiatives' document on the link below.
