The Southampton Connect is the successor body of the Southampton Partnership (the local strategic partnership (LSP) for the city). Southampton Connect brings together the private, public and community and voluntary sectors to work together in tackling the 4 key city challenges facing Southampton, thereby securing quality of life improvements for all those who live, work and visit the city.
The 4 City Challenges which drive our work are:
- Economic Development
- Educational Attainment and Skills
- Wellbeing
- A sustainable, green and attractive environment
Southampton Connect has released the Southampton Connect Plan 2011-14 which explains our vision for Southampton and describe our priority projects, through which we will address the City Challenges.
Our vision for Southampton is:
Southampton – a connected city for growth and creativity; gateway to a world of opportunities
Besides participating in Southampton Connect, the city council also works at a sub-regional level through the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) and the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (Solent LEP). In addition, it has also entered into a number of formal contractual partnerships such as the Strategic Services Partnership with Capita, Balfour Beaty and the South Coast Street Lighting Private Finance Initiative with Hampshire and West Sussex county councils.
