Complaints about councillors

Complaints about the conduct of councillors are outside the scope of this council's complaints policy and procedure, but are dealt with under the Members’ Code of Conduct.

The Head of Legal, HR & Democratic Services will be able to advise you on the information you will need to provide and can send you the necessary forms and detailed guidance on how to proceed. Please contact the the solicitor of the council at the address below.

The Localism Act 2011 has changed the system for making a complaint about elected and co-opted members. The system is in a transitionary period with the Standards Board for England shortly ceasing to exist.

Under the present and new system to be introduced in July 2012, all complaints should now be made to the Council direct - the SBE no longer plays any part.

A revised system under the Act will be introduced in July 2012 and this webpage will be updated accordingly.
