What are the customer excellence awards?
The awards were set up in 2005 to give customers an opportunity to let us know when we have delivered exceptional customer service. We're looking for those outstanding experiences of great customer service which let us know we have got it right and excelled!
How do I nominate somebody?

- Use a nomination form, available in reception areas
- Telephone us on 023 8083 3078
- E-mail us at customer.services@southampton.gov.uk
- Ask a member of staff to record the details and send them to us on your behalf.
How to make yours a winning nomination!
- The scheme is for individual members of staff. However, if you feel a team works well and provides good service we would still be happy to hear from you and will pass on your comments.
- We need to have more than "… does a good job" or "… is a nice person". Please give as much detailed information as possible, describing what the person did to show us how they have gone out of their way to help you.
- You are welcome to add a separate sheet of paper to our form, if you cannot get all the information on. The online form has more space to write your nomination.
What happens when you have nominated somebody?
You will receive a letter confirming we have received your nomination. We'll then write to your nominee, explaining that they have been nominated. If you prefer the person you are nominating not to know who you are and the comments you have made, we won't include your details.
A winner will be chosen each quarter.
Who chooses the winner?
Winners are chosen by a panel of three people, including a Head of Service.
The winning nomination
The winner and their nominator are invited to attend a presentation and awards ceremony in the Mayor's Parlour at the Civic Centre. The ceremony offers us a chance to say thank you to you for making your nomination. The winner will be presented with various gifts to commemorate the day, including a certificate and £50 worth of vouchers to spend in a store of their choice. We'll also take some photographs for our staff magazine and our flagship publication, City View.
