Details of our winning nominations are shown below

1. Greg Hardman - Customer Services Officer, Gateway

January – March 2011 (nominated by his customers)

Greg works in the busy Gateway One Stop Shop and was nominated five times. Comments received included:

"Very helpful, I went away knowing exactly what's going on. ... explaining exactly what I needed to know."

"Pleasant, relaxed demeanour, set me at ease. Felt as though I am regarded!"

2. Marie Dakin - Business Development Officer, Housing Services

January – March 2011 (nominated by a colleague)

“I would really like Marie recognised for the fantastic work she has done in making sure that the link between Tenants Organisations and the Local Housing Offices works really well. There are specific projects that Marie has worked with us on (St Mary's Games Area, Holyrood Play Area to name but a couple) without her they would be no where near as successful as they are. She is always enthusiastic, keen and committed to the work she has done; the tenants have really appreciated what she has done to help them set up Associations and to achieve things. In relation to Holyrood she helped the Tenant’s Association apply for and get a couple of grants totaling £130,000 that has transformed the play area. Setting up Tenants associations has given tenants in areas of the City a voice with the Council helping them to achieve improvements to their neighbourhoods.”

3. Lepsa Stojkovic - Project Officer, Communities

April – June 2011 (nominated by her customer)

“Lepsa is the person behind the International Cookery Exchange Group, which has just been awarded Queen's Awards for Voluntary Services 2011, as well as Tenant Participation Advisory Service 2011 Southern Regional for Best Practice in the Community Award. Her idea and vision created the group, her belief in the idea made it thrive, her continued support has made it stronger and poignant. Lepsa's dedication and professionalism have been outstanding.” … “Lepsa's total commitment to our group helped us to flourish and eventually we matured as a group: and we became a team. We have been able to secure funding for our cookery sessions, but we were also able to fund NVQ2 level courses for our Ladies, which opens doors for further training and job prospects. And every time the group was out in the community, cooking for the Refugees and Asylum seekers, or the Vulnerable in sheltered accommodation, just to mention a couple, Lepsa is always there, with us, with her usual amazing smile, happy for us and for the work we do.”

4. Keith Gunner - Empty Property Officer, Housing Solutions

April - June 2011 (nominated by colleagues)

“Keith project managed the Local Authority New Build schemes; the first new Council homes in the city for many years. As a colleague of his in the Housing Development Team I have witnessed first hand the sheer hard work, long hours and dedication this has involved over the past 2 years to get the schemes on site, work through issues, ensure funding requirements and tight deadlines were met and deliver the completed units. The amount of work involved should not be underestimated and all this, in addition to continuing with his existing work involvement with big/complex schemes elsewhere in the city, plus his empty property work. This contributed towards the team's target to provide good quality new affordable homes to help meet housing need for local residents."

5. Bitterne Library are our 'Team of the Year'

Nominated by their customers, examples of comments received:

“Some books need to be read in sequence and finding these and getting them from other libraries requires a lot of patience. They have even got books from the Isle of Wight.”

"I am disabled. (I had a spinal operation last year and recently a knee op.) I use a crutch due to nerve damage in my leg. So they help check my books in and out and always carry my books out to the car.”

“They all go to so much trouble to help, way over what is necessary. They all do it with so much patience, good humour and pleasantness that it is always a pleasure to enter the library knowing that they are there.”
