The project is funded by:
Bedford House (a mental health day centre)
City Limits Employment
The European Social Fund
3D-Crime Concern (a national crime prevention charity aiming to find solutions for crime and anti-social behaviour).
Crime Concern works with young people, the community and other agencies to reduce crime.
The Southampton 3D project works with girls and women who work in the sex trade.
100% of women using the 3D project use both heroin and crack cocaine. 22% of these women are now drug free and have left prostitution.
The project started in April 2005 and will end in March 2008.
We will work with 330 people in total 10% of which can be male. We are also able to help women with any disability or disadvantage.
3D's main aim is to help sex workers in Southampton. 3D will also help the people who live with these women to find work and/or training. This will help them, not to rely on the women's money.
Once 3D and the women feel they are ready to look for other work they are referred to City Limits Employment.
