Tools For Self Reliance
Project Workers:

Tools for self reliance (TFSR) are a charity working to lessen poverty in Africa by collecting and refurbishing old tools and equipment.
The tools are packed into kits then shipped to some of the poorest regions in Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana and Zimbabwe.
Southampton Day Services have a workshop based at TFSR in Netley Marsh, close to the New Forest.
A small group of different service users attend the workshop each day with support. The group clean and refurbish hand tools that include:
• Saws
• Screwdrivers
• Chisels
• Pliers
These are then used to make up blacksmith, carpenter and construction kits.
TFSR helps us to:
• Find out the skills a person all ready has
• Increase a persons skills
• Increase the persons confidence
• Increase a persons social skills
• Give people with severe disabilities a chance to experience work
