Environmental health services influence the basic quality of life for the people of Southampton from birth to death, these include such critical areas as:

  • air, land and water quality

  • noise nuisance

  • basic public health standards

  • food quality

  • disease control and protection from unsafe purchases

We are therefore keen to deliver effective services, which change to meet the needs of communities within Southampton. We also want to ensure that our services are of good quality but most importantly, make a real difference to improving people's lives in the city.

Environmental health - out of hours emergency (noise)

Southampton City Council operates a service to deal with noise problems out of office hours.

Registration Service

The Registration Service, based at the Register Office, 6a Bugle Street is responsible for the civil registration of all births, stillbirths, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships taking place within the City of Southampton.

Bereavement Services

Bereavement Services are available to give advice and co-ordinate the funeral process in a sympathetic and supportive environment.
