Air Quality Management

Where the assessment process has identified that air quality objectives are not being met Air Quality Management Areas (AQMA's) may be declared. Actions Taken to improve air quality can be focused on these areas and their success measured by ongoing monitoring and assessment of these specific sites. Currently there are 8 AQMA's in the Southampton City area. These are:

• Romsey Road
• Bitterne Road
• Winchester Road
• Town Quay
• Redbridge Road
• Bevois Valley
• Winchester Road
• Millbrook Road
• Commercial Road

The actions taken to improve air quality in the AQMA's and across the city are described in the Councils Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP), adopted in April 2008.
