Weston Shore Community Fun Day

Fun in the Sun
The Fun Day on Saturday, September 20, proved to be a great success, with over 1,000 local people turning up to enjoy the free activities in the late summer sunshine. Children particularly enjoyed the climbing wall, paddle boats and many craft activities on offer; whilst all visitors were enthralled by the mysterious stories that took place inside the belly of a giant whale.
Many visitors also took the opportunity to find out more about the life on the foreshore and why we should all take an interest and care for this area. Due mainly to the inter-tidal mudflat, which provide an important feeding area for thousands of migrating waders, the area is internationally recognised as a "site of special scientific interest" (SSSI).
Friends of Weston Shore
Building on the success of the day and interest of the local community we now want to establish a "Friends of Weston Shore Group" to help us...
improve the area for local people and local needs
by providing user feedback on any improvements and changes
by applying for extra money to make improvements that the Council cannot usually access
to organise and hold community events on the shore
Several people have already registered their interest in becoming involved in a Friends group and the first meeting was recently held, please contact us if you would like to join them or require further information.
