Alternative Ways to re-use or Recycle Your Household Items
The city council's waste service is just one way of disposing of your bulky household items. Here are some suggestions for unwanted items (good condition, not broken) to be put to good use.
The Dorcas Project
The Dorcas Project helps needy families resettle in the city. They will normally collect most items of furniture, crockery, bedding, soft furnishings and most kitchen equipment and some kitchen appliances, for example cookers and fridge freezers, free of charge. Items will normally be collected within a three-week period.
Contact: 023 8077 3132 (after 10am).
Oxfam
Oxfam will collect most large saleable furniture items and soft furniture items (with the correct fire labels) free of charge. Electrical or gas appliances or items that relate to children (prams, etc) are not accepted. Smaller items must be taken to the Oxfam Shop, Shirley High Street.

Household Waste Recycling Centres
Endle Street and Grange Road, Netley where you can dispose of unwanted items free of charge.
The sites are open daily 8am - 4.30pm (7pm from 1 April).
Contact: 023 8033 8319 - Endle Street or 023 8040 6182 - Grange Road, Netley.
WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T JUST DUMP IT!
Southampton's City Patrol Team operates in the city and any offenders could face a £50 fixed penalty notice (maximum £2,500 at court).
