What can and can't go in my recycling bin or clear recycling sack
What can go in the recycling bin or clear sack:
Newspapers
Any newspapers or free papers, magazines, holiday brochures and catalogues with black or coloured print.
Magazines
Any magazines, holiday brochures or catalogues.
Cardboard
Brown or coloured cardboard packaging.
Paper
All clean household paper, NOT yellow pages, shredded paper or Christmas wrapping paper.
Food Packaging
Any card used to package food, i.e. cereal boxes, card wrap around ready made food.
Non Food Card Packaging
Tissue boxes, clean card packaging, birthday cards.
Office Paper
Plain or printed, white or coloured photocopier or office paper.
Junk Mail
All dyed coloured or printed 'sales' papers and flyers.
Envelopes
White or brown including 'window'.
Plastic Bottles only
All household plastic bottles under 25 litres in size, please remove the bottle tops.
Steel and Aluminium Food Cans
All clean food cans, please rinse out.
Steel and Aluminium Beverage Cans
All empty beverage cans.
Please ensure all materials are placed loose in the bin, not inside carrier bags or black bin bags.
What can't go in the recycling bin or clear sack:
Black bags of rubbish
Bags of household waste, dust or dirt.
Household Rubbish
Cooked or non cooked food of any kind, nappies.
Light Fraction
Any recyclable material smaller than 1 centimetre, i.e. small pieces of paper, film, plastics.
Paper
Yellow pages, shredded paper or Christmas wrapping paper, any paper contaminated with food waste, liquid etc.
Plastic Film
Supermarket carrier bags, black bin liners, shrink wrap, cling film, film packaging, i.e. blister packs.
Hard Plastics
Margarine tubs, polystyrene cups and packaging, yoghurt pots, food trays.
Glass
Any glass.
Metals
Aluminium foil, i.e. baco type foil, pet food foil trays, scrap metal of any sort, aerosols, batteries.
Composites
Waxed cartons, tetrapak cartons.
Textiles
All textiles and shoes.
