Zone agents
The government has established a series of zone agents to co-ordinate and act as a first point of contact for all low cost home ownership opportunities within a designated area. Homes in Hants are the selected Zone Agent for Hampshire. The current Low Cost Home Ownership Schemes available are as follows:
Open Market Homebuy
New Build Homebuy
Shared Equity Schemes
First time Buyer Initiative
Intermediate Rent for Key Workers only
Eligibility
Southampton City Council has agreed that in order to be eligible for the Low Cost Home Ownership Register applicants do not need to apply to the Council’s Housing Register. This means an applicant to Homes in Hants for Low Cost Homeownership (LCHO) will be assessed based upon their ability to purchase a property. When applicants are considered for LCHO schemes accepted applicants will be prioritised as follows;
Southampton City Council Tenants
Registered Social Landlord Tenants
Existing Shared Owners (if property sale agreed)
Housing Register applicants and Keyworkers
Other eligible applicants i.e. local residents unable to access the housing market due to the relationship between house prices and income.
Applicants to the Housing Register expressing an interest in LCHO will be referred to Homes in Hants by Southampton City Council.
