Purpose of the board

The Making Social Care Work Board was created following feedback from people who use adult social care services, their families and carers, and a Local Government Association (LGA) Peer Challenge that took place in May 2019.

The board is made up of a mixture of city stakeholders, carers and people from Southampton who use adult care services.

The role of the monthly board meeting is to create a new direction for the city by developing a future strategy for adult social care via a series of workshops and then to monitor its implementation. Topics of discussion will include how best to support residents to lead safe, healthy and independent lives and to consider how best to work with communities, the NHS, businesses and others to deliver social care.
