Southampton Community Equipment Service

Equipment to help you live more independently and safely at home is provided on behalf of the council and NHS by Southampton Community Equipment Service (CES).

Equipment ranges from relatively simple items, such as walking sticks, crutches and walking frames to aid mobility, to more complex equipment like beds, hoists and pressure care equipment.

The service is able to deliver equipment to your home and collect it again if you no longer need it. If you are able to, you can also visit the local depot to view and collect your equipment.

If you are in hospital, your needs will be assessed before you leave. If you would like to use the service, first you need to be assessed by a health or social care professional.

For more information please contact us.

You can also complete a care self-assessment by selecting the following button:

Care self-assessment

The self-assessment can be referred to us if a full assessment is recommended.

Southampton CES is part of NRS Healthcare

The address of the depot is: NRS Healthcare Southampton, Unit B, Centurion Business Park, Bitterne Road West, Southampton, SO18 1UB.

Repairs, service and testing

All electrical equipment carries a label which displays the due date of the next test. If you have not been contacted, and the due date has passed, please contact NRS Healthcare to arrange a priority visit. Call 03332 408 335.

Returning equipment

There are three ways you can return your equipment, either

  • Tell your carer, social or healthcare professional, who will arrange with NRS Healthcare to collect it
  • Contact NRS Healthcare directly at 03332 408 335. If you do this, NRS Healthcare will sometimes contact your social or healthcare professional to confirm that collecting this piece of equipment is advisable
  • Drop off the equipment directly to NRS Healthcare's depot at the address given above, or your carer, social or healthcare professional can advise you of other locations to which the equipment can be taken
