Escape the 9-5 and do something life-changing. Love your job. Work from home. Change lives

We need more Shared Lives carers from Southampton and Hampshire to provide short, long-term or day care in their own home for up to three people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, physical disabilities or age-related conditions.

This scheme gives vulnerable adults and young people the chance to live in a family setting and be more independent, whilst giving their carers the chance to do a rewarding care role in their home.

Our Shared Lives carers come from many different backgrounds and can be single, married, in a relationship or have children. They must be over 18 years of age and although previous care experience is not essential, it is desirable. A separate, suitably sized bedroom is required for each client being cared for in long-term or short-term placements.

Shared Lives carers get ongoing training, monitoring and support, and earn up to £20,000 per year (with tax relief) for each client they care for. Carers are entitled to 21 days respite per year where they receive 50% of their current weekly payment for this period of time.

We match our Shared Lives carers and clients carefully and neither the carers nor clients are put under any pressure to accept a placement. We can complete the assessment, selection and approval process for becoming a Shared Lives carer within approximately four months depending on the experience and knowledge of the applicant.
