Wellbeing@Work is the name of the service offered by the council to Southampton-based businesses to help them improve the health and wellbeing of their staff and also of their business.
Individual hands-on support is only for businesses within the Southampton city boundary, but you’re very welcome to join the mailing list, receive the e-alert and use the resources.
The hands-on support, tools and resources are free. There may be limited costs connected with administering the survey depending on your preferred way of administering it.
It is a survey you can do with all your staff to raise awareness and establish a baseline from which to evaluate the impact of health and wellbeing activities. It uses questions validated by Public Health England and benchmarked to national data.
It asks about:
- Individual health habits (eating, exercise, smoking, use of alcohol, sleep)
- Experience of stress
- Feelings about working in your organisation (and there is scope for you to add in one or two of your own questions)
- What your managers need to feel equipped to have conversations about staff health issues
There are several ways - you can administer it yourselves on paper or using your own survey software (e.g. Survey Monkey or Snap). To guarantee confidentiality through anonymity you'll need to have more than 70 participating staff, or we can send all participants an online link and administer it for you (for a small fee).
For smaller staff groups there are other ways of raising awareness and getting some basic information so you can focus your actions. For example, discussion or focus groups, suggestion boxes or voting dots. We can help you with this.
Identify priorities and create an action plan to make health & wellbeing part of who you are as a business. You can also proactively signpost staff to specialist programmes that to help them develop new health habits.
The Toolkit offers a range of tools, resources and support to help you be proactive in introducing and embedding health and wellbeing in your organisation.
The Pledge is a public declaration about an organisation’s commitment to investing in their people's health and wellbeing. Watch this space – there'll be more details in the summer of 2019.
