Council housing rent
The council charges rent to its tenants for living in their homes. Rent makes up most of the money that we spend managing everyone's council home. This includes day-to-day repairs and longer term improvements. Information on all aspects of council rent is available to council tenants from their local housing offices and Gateway.

How to get more information:
Council housing rent arrears
We give advice to tenants who have fallen behind on rent payments and arrears collection. Any tenant who falls into arrears should contact their local housing office immediately. This will avoid any further action being taken, which can include eviction.
Eviction from Council Housing
As a council tenant, you will sign a tenancy agreement. In order to keep that agreement there are certain things that you will need to do and not do. For example, you will need to pay your rent on time and use your home respectfully and as permitted (including number of people and pets). In addition aniti-social behaviour from you or visitors will not be tolerated. Breaking your agreement can lead to eviction of tenants.
