Tenant Associations

A Tenants Association is a group of people with common aims who get together to form an organisation to improve their housing conditions and local environment. They represent the views of their members to the City Council.

Tenants Associations deal with local problems, vandalism, nuisance, crime, etc., by raising the issues with the people responsible for dealing with them.

They can invite council staff and members, the police, fire services, and other groups to their local general meetings to raise issues of concern and to resolve problems.

Anyone who is a tenant or leaseholder can join a tenants association. The council also encourages freeholders and tenants of other landlords to join their local Tenants Associations so as to ensure a close-knit community working for the benefit of everyone on the estate.

The Tenant Participation Unit can provide advice and financial support to help set up a Tenants Association.
