With so much available online these days you no longer have to get up from the sofa to do things like ordering your weekly groceries, paying your rent or applying for benefits which is especially useful at this time of year as it means you don’t have to go out in the cold, wait at the bus stop in the rain or stand in queues!
And as well as Tenants’ Link, did you know the council offers lots of other useful online bulletin services that will keep you up to date with news and information that is relevant for you?
There are loads of topics to sign up to – from community news to local events and even road closures, recycling and job opportunities. All the bulletins are free and you can change your subscriptions at any time. Simply register your email address, click on the topics that interest you and wait for emails direct to your inbox.
And if you aren’t sure how to do any of these things online, don’t worry there is lots of free help and support available across the city. If you don’t have your own computer you can access one for free at your local library.
Check out our January issue next month for details of free training courses in the new year, just for council tenants. These include IT and computer workshops. You will be able to bring along your own device and learn how to get online and sign up for lots of useful services like the council bulletins. So if Santa brings you a new smartphone, tablet or laptop this Christmas we’ll be able to show you how to make the most of your new gift!
