Important notice

Some iPhones and iPads cannot be used to apply online

The online application system is not displaying properly on some iPhones/iPads. We recommend using a desktop/laptop PC to make your application online. Computers are also available in our public libraries. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

You may apply online for a year R, 3 or 7 place to start in September 2015. Full details about how to apply are also available.

Applications for year 10 places at Inspire Enterprise Academy and South Wiltshire UTC are also now open.

If you wish to apply for a school place to start before September 2015, you cannot apply online. If you have recently moved to Southampton or are not happy with your child's current school, please see information about changing schools.

When will I know if my child has a place?

For information on the next steps in the process and when you will find out if your child has a place, please see how school places are allocated.

If you make your school place application online, you can log back in to the application system to check your application.

Please note that you cannot visit the Admissions team in person. Please contact them on 023 8083 3004 or school.admissions@southampton.gov.uk.

School admissions - Useful information

Admissions policies and useful information

Most of the city's schools follow the Local Authority's (LA) Admissions policy, but the rest have their own. For more information please see the following pages:

  • Other school admissions policies 2015-16

This page lists the schools which do not follow Southampton City Council's admissions policy, provides their own policies, and also lists the Supplementary Information Forms (SIF) you may also need to complete.

  • Admissions policies by school

This page lists all the schools in Southampton and the admissions policy that applies to them.

A composite prospectus for admission to schools in Southampton for the academic year 2015-16 can be downloaded below.

Bitterne CE Schools

Bitterne C of E Infant School and Bitterne C of E Junior School merged to form a primary school on 1 September 2014. This means that parents of children at other infant schools cannot apply for places at Bitterne C of E Junior School for September 2015, as the school no longer exists. There is no planned intake of external children into year 3 of the primary school in September 2015.
