Playgrounds and children's play opportunities

Big Lottery Children's Programme

With support from the Southampton Play Partnership, Play Services was awarded £526,601 from the Big Lottery Children’s Programme.

The money is being spent from December 2007 – December 2010 to increase the quantity and enhance the quality of free, open access children’s play provision during term times and school holidays.

The programme is made up of six projects which are being delivered around Southampton. The projects are run by:

Southampton City Council Play Services – Thornhill Adventure Playground and Environmental Play Project

Southampton Children’s Play Association (SCPA) – open access holiday playschemes

Southampton YMCA – open access holiday playschemes

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Youth Options – Solid Project, open access play sessions

Solent Youth Action – Buddies scheme
