Community languages service

The Community Languages Service provides extra classes for children from minority ethnic communities in Southampton, Portsmouth and Hampshire to help them learn their heritage languages.

We help bilingual learners to gain qualifications in community languages by arranging suitable venues for classes and by providing books and teaching materials. We also provide teacher training for tutors.

What languages do you teach?

Afghani, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Italian, Malay, Malayalam, Nepali, Persian, Polish, Punjabi, Somali and Urdu.

Will I have to pay?

Although a voluntary contribution is encouraged, no fee is charged for the classes.
