Wordsworth Infant School Consultation

Wordsworth Infant School currently admits 60 children to year R each year, which means it has up to 180 children in all its year groups. The Governing Body of the school are proposing to add an extra 30 places to Year R from September 2012. As pupils move through the school the size of each year group would increase to 90. In addition to this, the school is proposing changing from an infant to a primary school from September 2015. This would mean that the number of places at the school would increase to 630 by 2018.

Wordsworth Infant School is a foundation school and as a result, only the governing body can propose to change the age range of the school. This is why this proposal was not included in the initial consultation on primary school places.

Pre-statutory consultation closed on Monday 13 December and the Governing Body carried out six weeks of statutory consultation from 11 January 2011. A Statutory Notice was published at the school, in the Daily Echo, on the school's website and is available at the bottom of this page. A copy of the Full Statutory Proposal is also available from the school website or at the bottom of this page.

Statutory Consultation closed on 23 February 2011. The governing body will now consider any responses they have received and decide whether or not to proceed with the proposals. If they agree to take this forward, a report will be taken to cabinet, on behalf of the governing body, asking for a decision to implement the proposal. It is anticipated that this will take place in April 2011.
