School meals

School meals in Southampton are provided by City Catering, the council’s in-house hospitality service.

We won the Hospitality Assured award for the eighth year in October 2012. This is the standard for service and business excellence in hospitality. We are only the tenth local authority to get this award. We join a small group of organisations that have this award which includes The Ritz, London.

To find out more about this award, please visit the Hospitality Assured website.

Applying and paying for school meals

At a current cost of £1.90 a day in Primary schools and £2.10 a day in Secondary schools, our school meals offer excellent value for a nutritional, balanced meal.

To apply for school meals you will need to contact your child's school. In Primary schools, parents should make payments in person at the school office. In Secondary schools, students should pay for their dinner in the canteen.
