Consultation on 2013/14 school term dates
Southampton City Council is currently consulting schools and colleges on the adoption of the following school term and holiday dates for the 2013/14 school year:
Autumn term 2013
open: 3 September
half term: 28 October to 1 November
close: 20 December
Spring term 2014
open: 6 January
half term: 17 to 21 February
close: 4 April
Summer term 2014
open: 22 April
half term: 26 to 30 May
close: 23 July
A final decision upon school term and holiday dates for 2013/14 will be taken on 26 March 2012.
Whilst this would be binding for all schools maintained by the Council, it should be noted that academies and other independent state schools not maintained by the Council are free to set their own school term and holiday dates.
Parents and staff should check with their school as to whether they will be adopting the same school term and holiday dates as for local authority maintained schools before booking leave.

INSET Days
Schools can choose several days a year as in-service education and training days (INSET), when the school will be closed to pupils. To find out what the INSET days are for your child's school, you will need to contact the school directly.
