Speech and language support

At Southampton City Council we are very lucky to have our own Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) who can work in school to support and assess children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).

She also runs a team of experienced Speech and Language Schools Assistants (SALSA) who can assist children’s difficulties in the school setting as well training up teachers and teaching assistants with particular skills to help support children with SLCN in the classroom.

Training

The SLT and SALSAs run many courses for all school staff to support pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). These are all run through Inspire and a list of these courses is available.
