Southampton lies at the heart of Hampshire, one of the most beautiful parts of the country. The protected open spaces of rural Wessex and the New Forest national park all nestle close by, together with popular tourism destinations such as the Isle of Wight and Bournemouth, and some of the country’s most attractive sailing destinations.

Southampton’s central south coast location means that travel links by road, rail, sea and air are unmatched in the region. Southampton Central train station in the city centre provides a frequent train service to London, taking just one hour and twenty minutes to arrive at Waterloo. The airport serves around 40 UK and international destinations. Southampton’s port is the launch pad for international cruise, as well as a regular ferry service to the Isle of Wight.
