The Art of Water – Open Exhibition
July 18 – September 7
Galleries 1-4

The ‘Open’ exhibition returns this year and promises to deliver many delights and surprises. The theme of the exhibition is the Art of Water, and local artists will make a creative response to this theme. The exhibition is an important platform for artists looking to promote and sell their work. All the artworks are submitted by residents of Southampton and the surrounding South Coast region. The Open Exhibition is a popular with many collectors and first-time buyers. With over 200 works of art on display, this display provides an interesting overview of creative practice in the region. Amongst this year’s exhibition selectors will be Dan Hays, we are delighted to have involvement from such an outstanding young British artist.

Liz and Billy

"They talk, sing, play music and move in a fashion stamped with the Aggiss / Cowie signature of quirky-humoured poetry and askew beauty" (Dance Europe Magazine)
Men in the Wall is a funny, lyrical and engaging large-scale film installation. Special glasses are provided to watch this 3D world of four men, whose shared framed lives reveal a public quartet of private differences. The piece runs on a continuous 25 minute loop.
Cast: Jeddi Bassan, Sebastian Gonzalez, Thomas Kampe, Scott Smith. Text Billy Cowie, costumes Holly Murray.
This video installation and live performance has been organised by The Point Eastleigh and further film screenings continue in October to the Bargate Monument Gallery. The Point Eastleigh has commissioned the first-ever retrospective of choreographer Liz Aggiss and film-maker Billy Cowie’s 25 year collaboration.
